Question 3 of evaluation.

Slide created on SlidesShare

Some parts of the slideshow text won't show so I'll just retype them here:

"Stealth media film investment.
Was used as one of the films production company. Based on the fact that they are well known for their contribution of producing “KidultHood” and “The knife that killed me.” Likewise, it was used because it’s a well-known and respected film company in the UK/London. Therefore because the film is independently produced, this company is independent too. We can encourage a wider audience for the film in particular. "

"TMC films.
Was used as they are known for doing  a variety of production for example , short films , television programmes and sporting events. This could promote the likelihood of our film going down in history, as one of the classical UK independent Youth Dramas."

"UK film council.
Was used as part of our distribution, as our film is UK based. Promoting the awareness of gang culture in London, as well as exploring life in circumstances like this. But was used as both for production and distribution, which will give our product a better stepping stone, in terms of gaining a larger target audience turnout, as they can get reports and news articles based on the film, giving the UK public more awareness of this upcoming film."

"Why slide?
First and for most. These companies were used, as a platform for the media product. Considering that it’s an independent film, it would have allowed us to use their method of release for the product. Meaning that it would have been available as Blu-Ray DVD AFTER A FEW MONTHS. It would have been in local based cinemas and restricted cineworlds (only the UK). As we don’t have the stage to release it on a global scale. However, still would have been difficult to achieve. So it would have been likely for us to only release it on a digital scale. Meaning using the internet to post it online on websites like YouTube.  And it's down to the fact that our target audience is within the ages where they're dominated by the usage of technology. In order to just get our feet wet and start to gain viewed before jumping onto the theatrical stage."

"Impact slide?
Down to the fact that it’s a independent film. It restricted us with what we could do. In terms of equipment, as obviously it wasn’t a mainstream production, so we wouldn’t have gotten access to the best equipment. So we had to use that things we could afford. Likewise in terms of duration, we didn’t have time to reshoot things until they were perfected. Because of how we were also restricted of time, in a sense where we couldn’t have time to draft and redraft the initial idea (time is money). So which may explain why most of the shots we actually got for the final product were improvised. However, it terms of the credit, we first tried to improvise that as well, but then realising that we would have to justify our reasoning, leading us to go with the universal convention of the typical title sequence credit, nevertheless, we did miss out some bits of the credit but we got mostly what was needed and related to the story."

Question 2 of evaluation.

Here's the Prezi presentation I created for the question: How does your media product represent a particular social group?

Meanwhile, I've also managed to use Thinglink as a form of answering the question, as well as Slidely. Furthermore, I also created an interview, recorded on my phone but posted on Youtube, asking a member of our target audience for his opinion

Editing today/Deadline.

Today, was the final day of getting the title sequence done. And we managed just that thankfully.
It was such a stressful day, as only Saffron and Imaani were able to come in to finalise everything, due to Fatma being on a trip with the college and myself having timetabled lessons.
However, I did try come into half between the break. Nevertheless, I'm so proud of what the girls managed to do today( Thank you).

In terms of the backing tracks, it had to be changed because of copyright issues, therefore Imaani found a PARTYNEXTDOOR instrumental track that could be used, thank God for that.

In terms of the credits, Saffron worked her butt off getting it into the right order and having as many in the title sequence as possible. As well as changing the colour and font of the title of the title sequence itself.

18. Motion Summaried

Here's the Link to the YouTube video Audio of how to use Motion, as we already have a step by step screenshot version, I thought we should also add in a audio version just for more detail and its more specific to what we're asked to do.

The voice is of Trevor Fergus.

45. Interview

Here's the YouTube link to the interview with myself Esther.

Feel free to comment or whatever.

34. Production Shedule

In all honesty, we didn't exactly have a production schedule, it was one of those things where we planned in between lessons and created a groupchat on whatsapp, where we would ask when either of us are available to film and we will make due with that.

However, during the half term of course we planned to meet on a Friday and that's the day we got all the shots needed in our title sequence.

But apart from that, most of the 'scheduling' was suited for the times we actually had media ,as there was no issues of asking around for who's free to film, as it was timetabled, unless that is of course they missed that lesson.

Nevertheless, that worked to our advantage, as we were able to get filming down regardless to the circumstances, and most the progress were done in the half term. So I guess this worked in our favour. Yet, really and truly, it wouldn't be something we should do, as it could have gone completely wrong for us. But God was on our side. Banterrrrr!

Today's editing session.

Today, we finally got everything, well nearly everything shorted. But however, after asking for feedback from Louise, we noticed we had an issue we have to sort out as soon as possible. And that's the order of our credits in the title sequence. Because if we choose to keep it the way that it already is in the rough copies, We'll have to justify why we changed that universal convention of order and use our own. Plus that means that we have to find at least three other independent films that have their credits in this order, and that probably going to be hard to find.

So therefore, tomorrow is pretty much the last straw for everything, as it's the deadline of the title sequence. So we will work to sort out the order of our title sequence credits, to effectively fit in with the convention, so that we don't cause ourselves to be penalised, for a silly error. Also, because of this change, we have to also change the colour of the text to black, as I've noticed once I tried to change position of the credits, some didn't work effectively with the background imagine running, as the background imagine were to bright for the white text of the credit. Therefore, it has to be changed to the colour black

But apart from that, I managed to convert the mp3 songs via audio converter on the Mac and change it to the format that is best suited for Final Cut Pro. And that was very useful, as the songs finally didn't jump and made smooth transitions between in each other.

In terms of effects, we finally learned out to use the Black and White effect by going on the tool part on top of the screen and clicking the tab effects, then scrolling down to the tab that is labelled imagine control, then after clicking on the tab that is labelled desaturate.

18.. Summarise how to create titles in motion.

When you first open up motion it displays a selection of templates. You are able to either choose a template that is given or create your own.

Here the template Barrel Terns has been selected.

A page that says "Information here" will pop up. Once you click on the writing you are able to type the content that you want to show up.

As there are 4 barrells you have to do this 4 times.

If you want to change the colour of the font you need to go to the top right corner and click 'colour' on the drop down box.

The font has been selected to show as grey

All the text is now in grey. This is the end of the motion tutorial.

Style of title sequence

Our Title sequence is a youth drama so we decided to make the sequence discrete. We do not reveal much in the title sequence so it leaves the audience hanging and makes them question what may come next. This adds to the mysterious theme of the sequence and the style of it. We thought that we should keep the style of our sequence discrete because we didn't want to reveal too much and because it is not a trailer whereby we'd be able to reveal more of the plot.

Dan's Feedback - 05/03/15

 Saffron
Dan watched our final edit of our title sequence and told us that it could be improved by adding reaction shots and more facial close ups. This will show more emotion and create reactions from our audience . He also said that we need to communicate more clearly what has happened to Esther's character in the attack scene, as some people might not understand.

We have one reaction shot of myself already filmed so we are adding that to the title sequence today. The reaction shot is also a facial close up so we are addressing two of Dan's improvements.

We are also adding Foley sound to our title sequence. The sound of a siren will be used to build tension and create a serious atmosphere. The siren will match the mise-en-scene of Esther in pain on the ground. We are also thinking of adding in a voiceover , to show that Samantha is being followed and is about to be attacked.

Esther
So therefore, we plan to add the reaction shots, as well interoperated black and white effects in some of the shots. Likewise with the sound, we intend to get them to match with each specific scene, to get the message across effectively, rather than leaving the audience wondering how everything links together.

And by then we will finally have the title sequence done, but still we have to sort out the order of the title sequence credits. To finally have everything set in stone.

23. Institution and Productions

We used Stealth media film investment as one of the producers of our film. Based on the fact that they are well known for there contribution of producing KidultHood and The knife that killed me. Another reason why we used it as well is because we're hoping to use companies that are well known in London/UK for helping the production of independent film. And this company is well known for that indeed.

We also used Cipher film, as they also helped with the productions of Kidulthood/Adulthood/Sticks and stones/Nits/ All things to all men. Once again, a choice based on the fact that the company is well known for producing independent film. Which will support our production.

We used TMC films, as part of our credits,as they our known for doing  a variety of production for example , short films , television programme and sporting events. We choose them because we are thinking of the future, this could promote the likelihood of our film going down in history, as one of the classical UK independent Youth Dramas. If it's an success.

We used the UK film council, as part of our distribution, as our film is UK set and based. Promoting the awareness of gang culture in London, as well as exploring life in circumstances like this. s this is both for production and distribution, which will give our product a better stepping stone, in terms of gaining a larger target audience turnout, as they can get reports and news and articles based on the film, giving the UK public more awareness of this upcoming film.

We created N1 studios and ISEF Productions. ISEF Productions are the initials of each members first name. We thought that this as creative and appropriate as we all played a part in the production of the title sequence.

We have created a Wix account based on ISEF productions. This is a marketing tool as well as an institutional detail. Through the website

However, we forgot to use Revolver in our credits.

Imaani

We also created a twitter account in order to reach out to our target audience and to help with marketing. On the twitter account I uploaded pictures of the filming and editing process of the title sequence along with captions.

On the twitter account I added a bio that explained what the twitter account was for. I also added the website link so that people could find out more about the whole project.

Tomorrow and some reflection.

Tomorrow I plan to finalise the editing of the title sequence. Hopefully by the end of our media lesson, everything will be set in stone. Which means all the shots arranged properly, as well as the re-formatting of the tracks. But obviously, if I feel as though more work needs to be done, I will stay behind and get it done, until I'm happy with the finish product. And throughout the evening, I aim to get through any blogs that I need to do or re-do(as in add more information). Just so that I can feel as though I've enough to be proud of. Hopefully by Friday's deadline, everything, including he blogs will be done and we can finally stop gaining grey hairs and stressing ourselves out. Its so crazy how all of this is coming o an end and that it's a shame that I didn't take it that must seriously until now. Which hopefully isn't too late, and wont reflect badly on my grade/attainment. But all in all, it's been an interesting and crazy few weeks, with all our challenging/conflicting personalities, whiles trying to work together effectively. But never again.
