Blog check 3

"HI Esther

Just in case you haven't seen it on promonitor, here is your feedback from blogging health check 3 which was done over half term.

Esther you’ve only done 2 posts since your last blogging health check! You must make sure that you are still blogging while you are doing practical work. You have written some good reflections on your filming but you need to do so more regularly. You posts could also be more detailed. Think about the success of costumes and locations, any changes that you are making, interviews with the cast and crew. You should also display the photos you have taken while filming using flickr, photo-bucket etc.

I can see that you have already started doing this but let me know if you have any questions.
Phoebe"

Yet, I can't really say this was useful, as I didn't manage to get any blogs done before she reviewed my blogs, as I was in and out of hospital after my operation. So it lead to a slow production in my blogging. However, I feel that now, I'm up to date and would have preferred to get a heath blog check now but it's too late so I'll just have to assume I'm on track

What is genre?

Film genre refers to 'category' or 'type' and is useful when discussing film, because it helps distinguish films according to what they are about and what they look like. This allows producers to make and market their film to audiences, and also allows audiences to make decisions about what films they would like to see. Audiences find genres satisfying because it helps them develop an understanding of the certain expectations that may be fulfilled, and they may find pleasure in predicting what will happen next.

High School Drama

High school dramas became very popular in the 1970's, 80's and 90's with lots of variation within the sub-genre. The socialisation of teens and young adults by institutions such as school, colleges and at home. They often celebrate the idea of being young or youth as fun however this is not always the case. The girl is often 'centred' but it may focus on a male lead. They tend to focus on changes, make-overs or conflict within different groups at school.

Possible Audiences for Teen Films

(TASK 1) Who the audiences are and why they might enjoy watching them:

  • Teens - as most of the cast will be of the same age.
  • Middle aged people - may be nostalgic for them. They could identify and gratify towards the content as hey may be able to relate.
  • Young Adults - Nostalgia purposes and they could identify with the content.

(TASK 3) How many different audiences are there for Teen Films?

There are three different audiences for teen films

Do the profiles you have found in task 2 match those you have found in task 3?

Rough Cut Feedback plan

Based on our rough cut we are going to ask our target audience about what we have so far. We will ask them whether they like it, whether more content needs to be added and if they understand what is being shown to them, and that they understand the storyline so far. This will take place on the 3rd of March.

Diana's Feedback

  • It makes sense
  • I like it
Monique's Feedback

  • I like the editing, it's scary
  • I understand the storyline
  • Nothing more needs to be added
Tia's feedback
Loves the angel shots of when the charterer Samantha is on the ground, where's its like she's blinking.
The transitions are smooth and it makes sense
As well as not knowing the unknown, lots of anticipation

Micheal & Malachy's feedback
It's something different because its based on female characters rather than boys, yet it still has the same excitement because you just don't know what will happen next.
Once the music is put on, it will add to the atmosphere and that's about it

Joshua's feedback
The transitions are sick and the acting is really realistic. The scene where the girls are running looks live. Just get the backing track in and it will be done.

As these people are the exact target audience we're trying to capture, we now know that we're on the right track and that they will understand the message we're trying to portray. and thanks to this, it's more than likely that we wont need to add in any more tracks, because baring in mind that this is a title sequence not a trailer, it's best to leave the audience in suspense and want to find out for themselves, rather than us feeding them all the good stuff, leaving them to already assume what it's going to happen with a lack of interest.

Editing and additional shots - 2/03/15

WHAT WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED TODAY

  • We have uploaded our rough cut of the editing that we have done so far onto the blog.

WHAT WE NEED TO DO BY THE END OF TODAY

  • Book the music studio for filming on the 3rd of March
  • Add the rest of the shots that we filmed previously to the title sequence
  • We need to add the rest of the titles such as costume, music supervisor, edited by etc

ADDITIONAL SHOTS THAT WE NEED TO FILM

  • Fatma and Esther recording in the studio (studio will be booked at lunch time for the 3/03/15)
  • Imaani producing the groups content in the studio
  • Saffron and Esther meeting whereby she informs Esther on the talent show
  • Imaani, Esther and Fatma meeting for the first time in Saffron's studio (Dialogue will be included to further explain the scene)
  • Argument between the group - shows Esther's lack of responsibility towards the potential success of the group
