Not Another Teen Movie

The scene begins with a long shot of the school building to show the surroundings, and introduce the high school to emphasise the genre of the 'high school drama'. There is a pan shot before introducing the teacher speaking, and a zoom in of trainers to show the school's trends and what is popular in season. There are legs walking at a close up, as it focuses solely on the legs it could signify that the character is walking somewhere important.
The mise en scene is clearly reflective of a typical high school drama. In the title sequence it shows the separation of different social groups including the jocks, the cheerleaders in their classic cheerleading outfits, the nerds, the pretty girls (usually three friends dressed in pink) and many more. It has a contrast between a social rebel whose dad owns a scrubby, broken car which clearly doesn't fit into the norms of society as it is juxtaposed with a nice, clean car who belongs to the 'cool kid' of the school who everyone loves and looks up to. He has a reserved parking space and photos of himself hanged around the school which shows that he is well-liked and respected by everyone on the school grounds. There is also a clip of school boys desperately trying to fit into societies norms as they are trying to get a girlfriend, which is what gives you a status in a conventional high school.
There is not that much focus on sound as the clip mainly focuses on the visual images of the high school, however the music playing in the background is the 'Not Another Teen Movie' soundtrack and you hear non-diegetic sound of the conversations between friends in school.
The film is edited to exaggerate certain actions, for example when the female cheerleader gets hit by a car, it is edited to make it look as if she did a summersault and a front flip in the air, this offers a sense of humour as the film is aimed to make the audience laugh.

LA HAINE

The clip begins introducing the main character Said, through the use of a slow zoom into his face. There is a low angle shot of Said and a two shot of him and Vinz on the bed. In the two shot the camera is facing towards Said showing Vinz's perspective, and Said's facial expressions as a reaction to their conversation. There is a close up of the two of them in the shot however Vinz is in the foreground and Said is in the background. As a part of the mise en scene, we are introduced to Vinz through visual representation as he is wearing a ring which has his name carved into it. It is set on an estate to show the living conditions and the overall surroundings of the setting. There are police characters in uniform to suggest that it is a troublesome neighbourhood therefore police are constantly guarding the area. Said is wearing a tracksuit and chain to suggest that he is informal and to show his everyday wear, making the clip realistic and come to life. The clips shows diegetic sound of an explosion, indicating that there will be violent disputes and disagreements in the rest of the film, this creates tension and apprehension in the audience as they will be anxious as to what happens next. The song that is playing in the background is by Bob Marley called 'Burning and Looting', this song fits in nicely to the theme of the film because the film is about looting. In the background we hear dogs barking and an overall ambient noise of an estate. In the editing process there is a montage of a news footage, this is done to display a lot of information in a short space of time, and implies that the setting is energetic and chaotic to highlight the mood of the scene.
