Question 3 of evaluation.

Slide created on SlidesShare
http://www.slideshare.net/BaybiieEx/what-kind-of-media-institution-might-distribute-the-media-product
Some parts of the slideshow text won't show so I'll just retype them here:

"Stealth media film investment.
Was used as one of the films production company. Based on the fact that they are well known for their contribution of producing “KidultHood” and “The knife that killed me.” Likewise, it was used because it’s a well-known and respected film company in the UK/London. Therefore because the film is independently produced, this company is independent too. We can encourage a wider audience for the film in particular. "

"TMC films.
Was used as they are known for doing  a variety of production for example , short films , television programmes and sporting events. This could promote the likelihood of our film going down in history, as one of the classical UK independent Youth Dramas."

"UK film council.
Was used as part of our distribution, as our film is UK based. Promoting the awareness of gang culture in London, as well as exploring life in circumstances like this. But was used as both for production and distribution, which will give our product a better stepping stone, in terms of gaining a larger target audience turnout, as they can get reports and news articles based on the film, giving the UK public more awareness of this upcoming film."

"Why slide?
First and for most. These companies were used, as a platform for the media product. Considering that it’s an independent film, it would have allowed us to use their method of release for the product. Meaning that it would have been available as Blu-Ray DVD AFTER A FEW MONTHS. It would have been in local based cinemas and restricted cineworlds (only the UK). As we don’t have the stage to release it on a global scale. However, still would have been difficult to achieve. So it would have been likely for us to only release it on a digital scale. Meaning using the internet to post it online on websites like YouTube.  And it's down to the fact that our target audience is within the ages where they're dominated by the usage of technology. In order to just get our feet wet and start to gain viewed before jumping onto the theatrical stage."

"Impact slide?
Down to the fact that it’s a independent film. It restricted us with what we could do. In terms of equipment, as obviously it wasn’t a mainstream production, so we wouldn’t have gotten access to the best equipment. So we had to use that things we could afford. Likewise in terms of duration, we didn’t have time to reshoot things until they were perfected. Because of how we were also restricted of time, in a sense where we couldn’t have time to draft and redraft the initial idea (time is money). So which may explain why most of the shots we actually got for the final product were improvised. However, it terms of the credit, we first tried to improvise that as well, but then realising that we would have to justify our reasoning, leading us to go with the universal convention of the typical title sequence credit, nevertheless, we did miss out some bits of the credit but we got mostly what was needed and related to the story."

Question 2 of evaluation.

Here's the Prezi presentation I created for the question: How does your media product represent a particular social group?

Meanwhile, I've also managed to use Thinglink as a form of answering the question, as well as Slidely. Furthermore, I also created an interview, recorded on my phone but posted on Youtube, asking a member of our target audience for his opinion

Inspiration

The inspirations for the idea of our title sequence come from 3 main tv shows .

Mandem on the wall.

This is there first episode on youtube . This is one of our inspiration because of the title sequence is very obvious when it comes to telling us exactly what the characters are like , so we can forge a connection with which ever one at the start of the show , as well as telling us what the whole concept of the show is . This show is also something that out target audience will be going for , as well as the language that they use will be incorporated  in our title sequence .

Some Girls

Some girls is one of our inspirations as it is set on group of girls , which is what our title sequence is set on. They are all very defiant as well , which is what we won't to show in our title sequence with our main girl being more tomboy while the two other girls our not . Further some girls is an inspirational it centres on the challenges that these girls face , which will be represented in our title sequence .

Youngers

This is one of our main inspiration as it is centered on a group of three who our trying to make it in the music business , with problems as a teenager and where they live holding them back . This is a similar plot that we are hoping to achieve in our title sequence .

Incorporating Black and white footage into Fame VS The Streetz

In a previous post i said that we were not going to use a black and white filter on any of our footage but we decided that in the repeated footage of Samantha's POV shot that we would do the first two shots in colour and the rest in black and white to show the physical state of the character (moving in and out of consciousness). I think that adding the black and white filter has helped communicate the message that we want to illustrate to the audience.

How to make titles in Motion - VIDEO

I previously explained how to create titles in motion in a different post using screenshots and texts but here is another visual explanation that I found on Youtube.

How to create titles  in motion that you can use in Final Cut Pro

Overview Of Our Title Sequence Project

Making this title sequence has really tested and stretched me to develop my skills and knowledge when it comes to planning, filming and editing. It has also encouraged me to become a quick thinker when issues arise. i have realised that working in a group requires a lot of hard work and communication whereby relying on group members can put you in a vulnerable position (which is why i enjoy individual work more). During this time i have learnt more about how to use final cut pro and motion which i am happy about because it is skill that I can use for my hobby. Overall, this project has taught me a lot about my technological and communication skills. Our final piece came with a lot of disadvantages but watching all the work that we did together in order to create it was rewarding.

Some Editing photos

Here are just a few picture from some of the editing sessions.

Motion

This is another way we decided to show how to do motion , as well as the previous blog I have made on the step to step guide on how to create motion , this is just another way of showing. This video was uploaded by Esther

New Skills and Mindset

During this whole experience , i have learned allot about myself . Firstly that I can do well under pressure ,as on the final day of editing , I and another group member was able to finish the editing on our own , with many problems arising for the two of us .
Another thing I  have learned is that planning is really important . Although we did create a plan and stuck to it . When we found that problems had occurred that needed our attention more then our planning stage did , that we had to sort that out first , which kept us behind on the editing stage . We still did them . However we turned it all around and was able to finish a title sequence which I can happily say I am really proud of .

So next time I am planning to make something involving the stages we had to complete , I can do it much easier now knowing that best ways to do things and the if problems occur what to do and what not to do to sort them out .

20.) Xmas Homework

Friday 6 March 2015

Editing today/Deadline.

Today, was the final day of getting the title sequence done. And we managed just that thankfully.
It was such a stressful day, as only Saffron and Imaani were able to come in to finalise everything, due to Fatma being on a trip with the college and myself having timetabled lessons.
However, I did try come into half between the break. Nevertheless, I'm so proud of what the girls managed to do today( Thank you).

In terms of the backing tracks, it had to be changed because of copyright issues, therefore Imaani found a PARTYNEXTDOOR instrumental track that could be used, thank God for that.

In terms of the credits, Saffron worked her butt off getting it into the right order and having as many in the title sequence as possible. As well as changing the colour and font of the title of the title sequence itself.

Filming Days

The first day of our filming outside of lessons , didn't turn out great . This was due to the weather, which was very rainy , meaning that we couldn't film , as the filming had to be done in the park but the ground was to wet and muddy . Pictures taken by Esther's brother .

The next time we filmed was during lesson hours in another park . We had completed a majority of our filming and we were ready to edit , but found that all of our shots were not levelled  meaning that they all had to be re-shot. which created a great delay. Pictures taken by Imaani and Saffron

We had to then reshot that weekend , where we got allot done  in that time . Thanks to us planning what we had to film . And knowing that we had to double check that the shots where levelled this took extra time , but was well needed. Everything in our title sequence has come from this one day of filming.Pictures taken by Imaani.

While editing , we did not think we had enough shots , so we had decided to film more shots , to add ( not knowing that they where not going to be needed later) . This took allot of our time, and meant that our editing time was pushed back. However this was not needed when finding out that our title sequence couldn't be longer then 2 minutes .Pictures taken by Fatma.

This is a Prezi on our filming days.

Black and White

We had decided as a group , to make one of our scenes black and white , this was because we wanted Samantha's point of view shot , to show her loosing consciousness . We created this effect , while on final cut pro . The stages of this was ....
1. Click on effects
2. Then go to image control
3 Choose black and white

Here is a video showing these steps .

Production Schedule

My group had no specific production schedule, so in lessons and outside, we spoke and planned days that we would meet up and film. Unfortunately we spent too much time filming, which left us to a limited editing time. But thankfully we finished on time. Not having a production schedule set, made our lives very difficult, because we couldn’t really plan, we just went with the time that we had which was not allot, so we weren't efficient as we could have been .
